Local businesses I adore, Part 1.
PEI has the most extensive and wonderful network of small businesses that are locally owned and operated. Since I am a lover of all things local, I thought I might start writing about a few of my favourites so that you can also check them out and spread the local love! My list is forever growing for small local business, just proof of the industry expansion. I'll always commend quality and customer service, because I think that no experience at a local business can be better than when you get both of those things right.
Let's start with Loulabelle Skincare. Loulabelle is owned, managed, curated, produced, and designed by my beautiful friend Alyssa Holman. Alyssa reached out to me before she launched her skincare line and talked about what her vision was. I was hesitant to go on board, as I hadn't done anything remotely close to product photography or campaign photo shoots before. Alyssa persisted, she convinced me that my photography was exactly what she envisioned for her company. We did her first shoot in the coldest part of last winter, and a second one last summer in Rustico. She is so much fun to work with because she has an image of what she wants and with ease we manage to get the shots we want. Customer service from Alyssa is top notch. She believes in her products so much, and she has developed them all by testing them on herself, so her love for the people who support her is immense. As far as quality goes, they are outstanding. The products look beautiful on your dresser, which means that you can leave them out; they smell good, and they feel fantastic. I have used all of them, and have felt pampered after I've used them each time, (psst, I use them every day). Her line currently consists of three products:
Enliven, a facial cleansing oil, smells fresh and removes makeup without making your skin feel like it's been stripped of all the good things that skin needs.
Glow, a moisturizing facial serum, smells like geranium (swoon), and feels ahh-mazing.
This combination of facial oils has made my skincare routine change from something I despised to something I look forward to every day. Seriously, they feel that good.
Mermaid Waves Sea Salt Texturizing Hair Spray, is essentially a beach in a bottle. You know the days where you go dunk in the beautiful waters on PEI coasts and later your hair looks luscious, wavy, and relaxed? This bottle does that. It's as simple as spraying into damp hair and scrunching your hair between your fingers. Voila, beach hair.
You can see photos of the products on this website under Galleries-Campaigns, or you can check her out directly at www.loulabelleskincare.com!
Well, I'll end this here. I have a million good things to say about this company, and so many more. I'll be choosing my next local love soon! Stay tuned!
